Daily / Weekly Schedule

BZC has regularly scheduled zazen, service, student talks, and dharma talks most days, Monday through Saturday. The basic schedule is:

Morning Zazen (Mon – Fri): 5:40 am – 7:00 am

Midday Informal Zazen (Tuesdays, Wednesays, and Thursdays, starting April 5, 2016): 12:00 pm – 12:30 pm

Afternoon Zazen (Mon – Fri): 5:40 pm – 6:30 pm

Wednesday Night Drop-In Sitting and Study Group: 7:10 pm

The Wednesday Drop-in group is a weekly event that includes a period of zazen meditation, a short service in the zendo (temple) and an hour of reading and discussion accompanied by tea and cookies in the Community Room. The group particularly welcomes newcomers to Zen Buddhist practice and/or new to Berkeley Zen Center. It also provides an opportunity for practitioners to sit and study together on an ongoing basis. We meet every Wednesday except for the five-day Spring Practice Period sesshin (retreat) in June, the annual seven day Buddha’s Enlightenment sesshin in December and during the two week interim period during the December holidays. We also maintain a google group to share reading materials we are studying, announce other BZC events and issues related to logistics. The groups is facilitated by BZC Priest Gerry Oliva. Gerry can be contacted at gryoliva@gmail.com for further information.

Informal Friday Afternoon Tea: In or around the community room, from 4:45 pm – 5:30 pm, immediately before afternoon zazen

Saturday Program: 6:00 am - 11:15 am (select to see details)
